Community Development
Niagara Women's Enterprise Centre (NWEC) – Established in 1997
Niagara Women's Enterprise Centre (NWEC), also known as the Niagara Peninsula Community Resource Centre (NPCRC), was established in 1997. NWEC's mandate is to:
“relieve poverty by establishing and provide specialized certificate training programs and support for the creation of employment opportunities in the hospitality industry, for women who have found it difficult to obtain employment.”
In 2007 NWEC was chosen as one of a few groups in Ontario for a pilot project to assist women who are victims of domestic abuse to gain technical skills. NWEC has been selected in 2009 to deliver two years of skills based training in Office Administration in partnership with Niagara College. Gillian's Place and Women's Place South Niagara and Design for a New Tomorrow are partners to this program providing transitional support and counselling. Excellent! Very good presenter. Explains practical skills in very clear way. Very patient teacher. Able to maintain control of class in kind, respectful manner. Very professional.
Wow! Excellent content, amazing presentation skills and she really knew her stuff. I learned more with her in her 3 days than I did in two other 6-week job search programs.
I learned a lot about resumes. I know I can go into an interview with more confidence. I never knew it was important to have a cover letter until now.
